All about the movie!

In an alternate universe in 1982, a giant extraterrestrial spaceship arrives and hovers over the city of Johannesburg in South Africa. After weeks of waiting, an investigation team breaches inside the floating spaceship and finds over a million malnourished aliens inside. The South African government relocate them into a camp called District 9. Over the years, however, the camp turns into a slum. The aliens, which are called prawns by their looks, are an annoyance to the locals. To them, the aliens are just filthy, ignorant lawbreakers who bleed resources from humans.

Because of the conflicts between the aliens and locals, the government hires MNU, a huge weapons manufacturer, to relocate the aliens to a new camp outside the city. Piet Smit, and MNU  executive, appoints Wikus, his son-in-law, to lead the relocation.

An alien named Christopher and his young son CJ search the garbage dump for alien technology. He has been collecting alien fuel from the spaceship parts for 20 years, and has finally synthesized enough to commence his plan. However, when Wikus comes to Christopher’s shack to notice him about the relocation, he finds the hidden fuel container. Wikus accidentally sprays some of it in his own face while investigating it.

Due to the contamination, Wikus begins mutating into one of the aliens. He is taken to the brutal MNU lab, where researchers discover that his DNA is fused with alien DNA, granting him the ability to operate alien weaponry. Smit orders Wikus’s body to be vivisected to harvest for its profitable properties, before Wiku fully transforms. Wiskus escapes, but has nowhere else to go other than District 9. He hides among the aliens and some Nigerian gang tribes that live there. Wikus is hunted by Koobus, a cruel MNU mercenary, and his troops while it is broadcasted that Wikus is a wanted fugitive who has contracted a contagious disease from having sexual intercourse with aliens.
